Principal Structural Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000
Role
* Lead and develop structural design solutions for both superstructures and substructures across varied sectors and challenging sites.
* Collaborate within a multi‑discipline design team to deliver contractible, cost‑effective, and client‑focused outcomes.
* Produce detailed calculations and design specifications using hand calculations and software tools such as AutoCAD, TEDDS, and Tekla Structural Designer.
* Manage multiple project workflows, budgets, and timelines while supporting junior engineers.
* Conduct site surveys, attend project meetings, respond to technical queries, and oversee construction phases.
* Undertake structural condition assessments and provide remediation reports.
* Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and relevant UK and European standards.
Requirements
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
* Extensive post‑qualification experience in an engineering consultancy.
* Strong understanding of reinforced concrete, steel, timber, and masonry design.
* Proficiency in relevant design software and Microsoft Office tools.
* Proven ability to work independently on surveys, designs, and reporting.
* Excellent communication skills and a full UK driving licence.
* Experience working on building structures.
