We have an excellent opportunity within the Trust for a Consultant Psychiatrist based within the Old Age Liaison Mental Health Service.
The post holder will provide leadership and senior medical input to the Old Age Liaison Service in the Department of Psychological Medicine at Hull Royal Infirmary.
This role requires flexibility, vision, and strong interpersonal skills to engage with patients, carers, and develop professional relationships with multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams.
Applicants should have full GMC registration, possess the MRCPsych UK or an equivalent postgraduate qualification, and be on the GMC's Specialist Register or within 6 months of completing their CCT in Older Age Psychiatry.
The role offers at least 2.5 SPAs for a full-time position, with potential enhancements for other activities supporting the Trust's wider goals. There is robust peer support and opportunities for clinical supervision.

Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing consultant psychiatrist input to the Old Age Liaison Service.
2. Acting as Responsible Clinician for patients over 65 detained under the mental health act (small numbers).
3. Cross-cover with colleagues as needed.
4. Offering specialist advice, consultation, and training to primary, secondary, mental health care, and acute hospitals.
5. Collaborating with colleagues to ensure patient-centered care, joint working, and risk management.
6. Involvement in departmental governance, including audits.
7. Participating in peer appraisal, CPD, and job planning.
8. Supervising and training junior medical staff.
9. Engaging in undergraduate teaching and postgraduate supervision.
10. Participating in the Old Age and LD consultant on-call rota (1:7 joint LD and Old Age psychiatry rota).
11. Completing clinical administration and engaging in CPD according to Royal College guidelines.
