Consultant Anaesthetist
University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Consultant Anaesthetist. The successful candidate must hold the FRCA or equivalent and have evidence of extensive experience within anaesthesia. Key Responsibilities
* Attend anaesthetic sessions across a broad range of surgical specialties including Bariatric Surgery, General Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Maxillofacial, Urology and Gynaecology.
* Participate in the General Anaesthetic rota, covering both planned and emergency interventions.
* Provide stabilisation of paediatric emergencies prior to transfer.
* Conduct weekend trauma cover (6‑hour sessions on Saturdays and Sundays).
* Accept occasional emergency duties as requested by the appropriate consultant.
* Engage in sub‑specialty interests, particularly in bariatric and block anaesthesia.
* Adhere to on‑call commitments (1 in 12 frequency at Category A) with a 3 % supplement.
Qualifications & Experience
* FRCA or equivalent qualification.
* Extensive experience in anaesthesia.
* Bariatric interest encouraged (St Richard’s Hospital is the largest NHS bariatric surgery provider in southern England).
* Commitment to training local and international trainees and participating in an active educational programme.
