The Role
Glasgow City Assessor is looking to recruit a RICS Chartered Valuation Surveyor to join one of our experienced Valuation Teams. If you have a passion for public service and want to be involved in a wide variety of valuation subjects and projects within the great City of Glasgow, then please consider applying to join us.
You will be responsible for surveying and valuing properties for both Council Tax and Non-domestic Rating. In addition to your valuation duties, you will also discuss and negotiate disposal of proposals (also known as appeals) to alter both Council Tax Bands and Rateable Values including presentation of expert witness evidence before the Tribunal Service.

Selection Process
We operate a competency-based recruitment process which aligns your role profile to a Person Specification. Please take time to familiarise yourself with the requirements of the relevant role profile and person specification before completing your application. It is worth taking time to ensure your application demonstrates this and in particular, the skills, knowledge, and experience section can be invaluable in demonstrating competence. Applicants who best demonstrate competence will be invited for an in-person interview at our offices within the City Chambers complex in the centre of Glasgow. You will be asked to choose an interview slot using an online portal if you are selected.
At interview, you will be asked competency-based questions which will typically ask you to describe a situation that demonstrates a particular competency and then seek information from you on the actions you took, the outcomes, and what you learned from the experience.
