Our Farm Shop Manager
Our Farm Shop Manager has a love for and experience with all things food! They lead from the front – energising the team, delivering unforgettable guest experiences, and celebrating the very best of Somerset through food, drink, and beautifully curated products. Working closely with the Retail Operations Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day running of our Farm Shop and House & Garden Shop, balancing hands-on leadership with strategic thinking to drive team success and commercial growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Be a visible, hands-on leader, energising the team and creating standout guest experiences
* Drive sales through brilliant product knowledge, confident coaching, and commercial awareness
* Oversee daily operations including rotas, recruitment, stock flow, and shop presentation
* Collaborate on visual merchandising to ensure seasonal, brand-aligned displays
* Foster a positive team culture with clear communication, recognition, and high standards

What we're looking for
* Proven retail experience in a farm shop, deli or food-focused setting is crucial
* A confident people leader who thrives on motivating and supporting others
* Excellent customer service instincts and a warm, welcoming nature
* Commercial acumen – comfortable using data to drive sales
* Strong communication and operational skills including rota planning and recruitment
* Calm under pressure, detail-driven, and full of energy
Where you’ll be working – The Retail team
Our Retail Team works closely with our Product, Events, and Hospitality departments to ensure a seamless guest experience across the estate. We operate three beautifully curated food and lifestyle outlets:
* The Farm Shop – At the heart of our estate, offering home-grown and handmade produce, from cheese and butchery to cyder and seasonal veg.
* House & Garden Shop – A celebration of Somerset living, with scents, tableware, and crafted home goods.
* The Creamery at Castle Cary Station – Our newest location bringing The Newt to guests on the move.
