The need to establish strong and effective links with schools and colleges, both locally and nationally, underpins the work of the School and College Outreach and Engagement Team, and is essential in supporting the University achieve its recruitment aspirations both in the short and long term.

We are looking for an experienced and creative member of staff to join our growing student recruitment team to work in school and college engagement in target regions across the country.

About the role

You will be working as one of several Student Recruitment and Access Coordinators in the Outreach and Engagement Team who are responsible for working with schools and colleges, either locally or within designated geographic regions, delivering engagement activities that meet the needs and objectives of Sheffield Hallam Academic Colleges, and that of the wider University.

You will also be responsible for delivering engagement activity occasionally within the University, whilst also identifying opportunities for maintaining and growing institutional engagement with new targeted feeder institutions.

You will develop an offer for schools and colleges that is innovative, creative and effective, ensuring it meets the institution's recruitment and access objectives. You will also be an active member of the Student Recruitment Outreach and Engagement Team, ensuring it meets the expectations set out in its Operational Plan.

You will demonstrate a commitment to raising aspirations and awareness and in highlighting opportunities available at university to prospective students and key influencers at Sheffield Hallam University. This will include working with teachers, advisors, and parents/carers as well as student cohorts. You will be a proven excellent communicator who is confident speaking to small and large groups of students, as well as with senior staff from a school or college.

Travelling Commitments

You will be based at the University and will be required to travel independently within the Sheffield City Region (specifically around Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster, plus other targeted schools and colleges in the East Midlands. This may include, but is not restricted to, some targeted schools in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.

You may be attending events and delivering engagement activity in schools and colleges around 3 days per week throughout the allocated region and at different times of day - sometimes into the evening at events such as at Parents Evenings. This may mean being required to travel up to 100 miles in both city centre and rural settings. You will need to be able to travel independently, transporting promotional materials used to deliver the engagement activity. For example, applicants will be provided access to a hire car.

You will also be required to support other key student recruitment events as required (i.e. Open Days, Clearing, etc).

A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.
