Job Title: Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a small, independent special school in Worthing that supports pupils aged 6–16 with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH), autism, ADHD, and dyslexia.

The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom. Working closely with teaching staff, you will help deliver tailored learning experiences and provide consistent emotional and behavioural support.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils in the classroom and through one-to-one interventions
Assist with the delivery of personalised and differentiated learning
Help manage behaviour using positive and consistent strategies
Support pupils with a range of needs including SEMH, autism, ADHD, and dyslexia
Build strong, trusting relationships with students
Promote emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children or young people with additional needs
An understanding of SEMH and/or neurodiverse conditions such as autism and ADHD
Patience, empathy, and a calm, consistent approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed
Desirable (but not essential):
Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or youth work
Experience in a specialist or alternative provision setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
