With effect from 01 April 2026, NHS Scotland is reducing its full time working week from 37 to 36 hours per week, there will be no change in full time pay.
We are looking to recruit 1 individual to join our ophthalmology team to provide the visual field service. The post will be based at Ninewells Hospital and provide the visual field service there 3 days a week and you will also deliver the visual field service at Perth Royal Infirmary two days a week.
Clinical duties will include the assessment of visual acuity and visual fields on a Humphrey visual field analyser for patients attending the hospital eye service clinics. The majority of these patients have the eye condition Glaucoma. The visual field assessment is essential to disease monitoring. We will provide in house training for all the skills required. You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a caring manner to work with all age groups and abilities of patients. You also require to have good organisational skills and the ability to work independently, whilst being supportive of colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary ophthalmology team.
You will be committed to providing a high standard of support to the team and have a genuine interest in self-development and continuous learning. You should have a willingness to undertake new skills and expand this role as we look to change how ophthalmology services are delivered moving forward.
You will have current/recent experience working in a healthcare, ophthalmology or community optometry setting and evidence of working effectively as part of a team
You will possess either an SVQ 3 in Health Care or have demonstrable evidence of being able to work at this level.
