Job Title and Overview
A Vacancy at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Full-time Consultant Neurologist post providing opportunities in the care of people with Epilepsy and with clinical research in epilepsy. Based on John Radcliffe Hospital site. Sessions will be divided between general clinical neurology with a specialist interest in epilepsy.
This is a substantive 10 PA post (8.5 direct clinical care, 1.5 supporting professional activity). The appointee will join the established OUH Epilepsy team, working closely with specialist nurses. The appointee will participate in the on‑call rota and may be required to work at other OUH Trust sites.
Responsibilities
* Run independent epilepsy clinics and supervise an SPR‑led first seizure clinic.
* Work with the Epilepsy Specialist Nursing team to work up patients for resective surgery, intracranial recording, and neuromodulatory therapies.
* Participate actively in epilepsy‑related multidisciplinary team meetings.
* Cover in‑patients on the video‑telemetry unit and manage complex epilepsy patients across OUHFT.
* Integrate closely with the wider epilepsy team (neurophysiologists, neuropsychologists, neuropsychiatrists, neurosurgeons, ward nursing, technologists, secretarial teams and allied health professionals).
* Serve on the general neurology on‑call rota.
Research and Teaching
* Be involved in clinical and academic research with current Epilepsy Consultants and established research infrastructure.
* Participate in teaching programmes for clinical students, training junior doctors and in clinical examinations.
* Contribution to teaching, training and research will be included in the regular job plan review.
