H-Power is a UK-based, AIM-listed clean energy company developing zero-emissions hydrogen power systems. Using ammonia to produce low-carbon hydrogen at the point of need, and fuel cells to convert it into reliable, off-grid power, H-Power offers a scalable, practical alternative to fossil fuels, serving construction, infrastructure, transport and power generation sectors.
Behind the technology is a team driven by a shared purpose: to accelerate the shift away from fossil fuels.
The Role
H-Power is looking for a Head of Manufacturing to lead the transition of its advanced energy technologies from development into scalable, repeatable production. This is a key leadership role within the business, responsible for bridging the gap between engineering, operations, quality and supply chain, ensuring products can be manufactured safely, efficiently and cost-effectively as H-Power continues its growth journey.
You will take ownership of manufacturing strategy, industrialisation, supplier development and production readiness across H-Powers ammonia cracking, hydrogen generation and fuel cell technologies.
Responsibilities include:
* Leading the development and implementation of manufacturing processes for advanced energy systems
* Driving the transition of products from R&D and prototype builds into pilot and production environments
* Establishing manufacturing strategies that support scale, quality, cost and operational performance
* Leading manufacturability assessments and Design for Manufacture (DFM) activities across new product development programmes
* Developing manufacturing documentation including process flows, SOPs, work instructions and quality controls
* Supporting manufacturing audits, process validation activities and production readiness reviews
* Determining make-versus-buy decisions and developing outsourcing strategies where appropriate
* Building and managing relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturing partners
* Driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality and waste reduction
* Working closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality and Project teams to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve performance
* Leading and developing the Manufacturing Engineering team while supporting future growth of the function
* Supporting the introduction of new manufacturing technologies, processes and production capabilities
We’re keen to speak with people with experience in:
* Manufacturing engineering, industrialisation or production development within complex engineering environments
* Taking products from prototype through to production and scale-up
* Manufacturing process design, production readiness and operational improvement
* Design for Manufacture (DFM), New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing validation activities
* Supplier development, contract manufacturing and make-versus-buy decision making
* Leading engineering or manufacturing teams within growing or evolving businesses
* Working across engineering, operations, quality and supply chain functions
* Delivering manufacturing capability within highly regulated or technically complex industries
Desirable
* Experience within hydrogen, fuel cells, energy systems or industrial process equipment
* Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
* Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation
* Experience within sectors such as clean energy, aerospace, automotive, industrial equipment, process engineering or advanced manufacturing
