An exciting opportunity has arisen, to join an innovative and growing developer of optical instrumentation, for a Mechanical Design Graduate or Apprentice who is looking to further their knowledge of Design within the field of scientific instrumentation.
Supporting the R&D Team, you will be involved in a new project, working on the full life cycle, from early prototype, to testing, pre-production and eventually leading to manufacturing.
You will need to demonstrate you are capable of producing 3D models using the CAD system (AutoDesk Inventor), although the successful candidate will be given on the job training if their experience is with other 3D design packages.
You will produce detailed drawings for part manufacture with training where necessary.
You will use 3D CAD software to produce models, including producing detailed drawings for part manufacture at subcontractors.
You will also be required to produce assembly drawings, written documentation and compile bills of materials for in‑house production.
Working for a small company will require a flexible approach to work and self‑motivation, with willingness to help with other tasks when the need arises (e.g. aid prototype and production assembly).
This position would suit a recent graduate or apprentice from a suitable engineering discipline familiar with using 3D CAD design packages.
As the successful candidate you will be qualified to a degree level, or an apprentice level, in engineering, design, or a related discipline.
As the successful candidate you will have a flexible approach to work, self‑motivation and willingness to help with other tasks when the need arises (e.g. aid prototype and production assembly).
