Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Vice-President/Athletic Director, the Student Activities Coordinator manages the Student Activity program and services. This full-time position provides leadership for wellness and part-time staff, including student employees, officials, and scorekeepers for intramurals. Responsibilities include preparing quarterly activity calendars, student publications, coordinating educational, developmental, social, and recreational activities, overseeing student organizations, facilitating Student Senate activities, and assisting with admissions and campus tours. The position also includes the role of Men’s Basketball Coach, involving recruiting, training, and coaching the intercollegiate team.
Essential Functions
Supervisory Tasks
1. Oversee Student Activity Operations and Events.
2. Lead and evaluate student activity staff.
3. Supervise areas such as the Student Center, gym, and wellness center.
4. Develop and implement student activity programs supporting campus goals.
Head Men’s Basketball Coach
1. Recruit students for the intercollegiate team.
2. Supervise practices and training.
3. Coach the intercollegiate Men’s team.
Program Planning, Evaluation, and Improvement
1. Coordinate with the athletic director on athletic contest activities.
2. Develop and evaluate student activity programs.
3. Prepare reports on programs and activities.
Intramural Program
1. Organize, promote, and supervise intramural activities.
2. Manage equipment, supplies, and participant records.
Student Group Advising
1. Attend committee meetings and advise Student Senate Wellness Committee.
2. Assist in planning wellness and fitness activities.
Budget Management
1. Manage student activity budget.
2. Develop and monitor budgets and expenditures.
Area/Event Supervision
1. Supervise student workers in gym and weight room.
2. Provide basic instruction on exercise equipment.
First Aid
1. Provide first aid and emergency response as needed.
Student Social and Recreational Activities
1. Organize and supervise social and recreational events.
2. Negotiate contracts, promote activities, and supervise events.
Communication and Publications
1. Schedule activities and develop promotional materials.
2. Manage weekly student and staff publications.
Admissions and Recruitment
1. Assist with high school outreach, orientations, and civic engagement.

Marginal Functions
1. Participate in professional associations.
2. Build relationships with student organizations and associations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Knowledge of exercise and fitness equipment operation.
* Ability to instruct and promote a positive environment.
* First aid and CPR certification.
* Policy review and program improvement skills.
* Experience in activities, intramurals, student government, fitness, and wellness.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Basic computer skills and physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree.
* Two years of administrative experience in student activities (master’s degree may substitute one year).
* One year of supervisory experience.
Desired Qualifications
* Master’s degree in related fields such as exercise science, education, or student affairs.
