Band 5 or 6 Research Nurse – Diabetes – 21.6 hrs as per RWW 01/04/2026 0.6 WTE. Fixed Term for 1 year.

We are looking to recruit a nurse to an exciting and challenging research post that will be based within the department of diabetes clinical trials. We welcome interest from general nurses with a special interest in advancing diabetic research or an experienced research nurse who wishes to develop in another field. The post will allow you to develop the skills required to deliver exceptional clinical and research care to participants/patients involved in research studies.


Responsibilities

* Assist in the delivery of direct and indirect care of those participating in research, including recruitment, monitoring of study patients, and collection of accurate, confidential data.
* Perform duties and responsibilities specific to the project, as directed by the Principal Investigator and/or Senior Research Nurse.


Qualifications

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Flexible yet organised approach.
* A keen desire to learn.
* Ability to manage a caseload of patients and volunteers.

Where a potential candidate does not meet some of the essential skills for a Band 6 position, they may be offered the position at a Band 5. This is a fixed‑term contract but may have potential for extension depending on future funding.

Additional Information for Candidates

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
