This is a fantastic opportunity to join a sustainable‑mindful multidisciplinary consultancy that is establishing a professional, industry‑leading team of design experts in the water and wider civil engineering sectors. They are looking for a capable, driven Principal Civil Engineer with extensive knowledge of drainage and non‑infrastructure design who is ready to manage and deliver a range of challenging projects. You will help establish and lead a determined team of design engineers, based near London.

Responsibilities
* Deliver exciting projects and developments
* Lead and mentor a newly established team of civil engineering professionals, supporting their CPD
* Oversee budgeting, resourcing, scheduling, and successful delivery of engineering projects
* Manage residential, commercial, and industrial projects
* Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients and stakeholders across public and private sectors
* Prepare, check, and submit reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, method statements, and other technical documents
* Enforce company policies and procedures, ensuring colleagues adhere to best practice
* Uphold health and safety standards at all times
* Contribute to business development strategies as a trusted company representative
Required Skills and Experience
* UK Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in civil engineering or a related discipline
* Chartered status with a recognised professional body (e.g., ICE, CIWEM)
* Extensive experience working in design within a UK consultancy
* Demonstrable experience on water‑based, non‑infrastructure projects (e.g., reservoirs, pumping stations)
* Experience with detailed civil engineering design, especially drainage systems and strategies
* Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and other relevant software packages
* Experience writing, checking, and amending reports for submission
* Project and people management experience within the sector
* Client and stakeholder relationship management experience
* Excellent organisational, time‑management, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Full, valid UK driving licence
Desirable Skills and Experience
* UK Master’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in civil engineering or a related discipline
* Experience authoring Flood Risk Assessments
* Experience with Sustainable Drainage Design (SuDS)
* Experience in a public‑facing role
