Salary: £29,093 - £36,395

Allowances:

* £1,455 (5%) secure unit allowance, payable monthly at the start of employment
* £1,000 R&R allowance
* £3,014 enhanced pay for unsociable hours (based on 23 hours per fortnight at enhanced rate), payable monthly in arrears
* £1,833 sleep-in allowance (average of two per month), payable monthly in arrears

The Role

Brook Street Social Care offers this exciting opportunity to work at the Aycliffe Centre in Durham. The role involves working within a secure children's home providing specialist accommodation for young people aged 10-18, many with complex needs requiring intensive support.

Please note: The role involves working across rotating shifts, including:

* Monday to Friday: 7:30 am - 2:45 pm and 2:15 pm - 11:00 pm
* Fortnightly weekends: Saturdays 8:00 am - 1:15 pm and 1:15 pm - 11:00 pm; Sundays 8:00 am - 1:15 pm and 1:15 pm - 11:00 pm


Primary Responsibilities

* Act as a keyworker and role model for young people
* Engage, stimulate, and challenge appropriately
* Safeguard and provide consistency and stability
* Advocate with sensitivity
* Administer medication as needed
* Maintain records and undertake risk assessments
* Write reports and care plans using IT skills
* Provide educational and physical activities
* Understand standards within Children’s Homes Regulations 2015


Candidate Requirements

Experience in care is desirable but not essential. To succeed, you should have:

* A passion for care and compassion in practice
* Good verbal communication skills
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Calmness and ability to manage challenging situations
* Ability to build rapport quickly and work compassionately with young people
* A flexible, enthusiastic, 'can-do' attitude
