Academic Coach September 2026 to July 2027 £85 to £105 per day ‘Good’ secondary school, Coventry Core subject support (English, Maths or Science) through targeted intervention If you’re a graduate looking to build school-based experience before teacher training, educational psychology, or a long-term career in education, this Graduate Teaching Assistant style role gives you a strong starting point. You’ll work across Key Stage 3 and 4, focusing on one core subject, delivering focused support that helps pupil’s close gaps, build confidence, and improve outcomes. The Role Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions in English, Maths or Science Support pupils who need catch-up, booster, or confidence-building sessions Break down tasks into clear steps and model strong study habits Reinforce key knowledge and exam skills (retrieval, vocabulary, problem-solving) Track progress and feed back to class teachers and the department Help pupils stay focused, organised, and ready to learn in lessons Follow safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times The Candidate 2:2 degree or above (ideally linked to your core area: English/Maths/Science or a related subject) Grade C/4 in GCSE English and Maths Clear, confident communication and a calm, professional manner Reliable, proactive, and comfortable working with teenagers Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one Strong interest in schools, learning support, tutoring, or teacher training The School This ‘Good’ secondary school in Coventry has a strong focus on progress in the core subjects and uses structured interventions to support pupils who fall behind.
