Overview
We are looking for Learning Support Assistants to join our enthusiastic ALN team based on our Bridgend and Pencoed campuses. This is a fixed-term role until 31 August 2026, term-time only.
Salary and Hours
* Salary Scale 1: £24,425 per annum pro rata – £12.66 per hour
* Post A – 18 hours per week
* Post B – 24 hours per week
* Term Time Only. Salary for term-time only (based on full 36.6 weeks worked): £9,588 – £12,784 per annum. Actual salary depends on weeks worked for the remainder of the academic year.
Responsibilities
You will provide personalised learning support and personal care (depending on individual needs) to students with ALN to remove learning barriers across all Bridgend College campuses. You will support students in developing skills, confidence and understanding to progress in learning, whilst taking steps toward greater independence. This may include providing practical support, personal care, note-taking, reading, prompting/scribing and/or note-taking support.
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum grade C in Maths and English or Welsh
* A relevant Level 2 qualification
* Experience working with people with additional learning needs or physical disabilities who may require support to achieve their full potential
* Good IT, communication and note-taking skills
* Prepared to work flexibly
Requirements
* Registration as an FE Learning Support worker with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) is required before start
* Evidence of identity and eligibility to work in the UK will be required
* DBS disclosure for child and adult workforce (satisfactory/enhanced) will be required
* Registration as a FE Learning Support Worker with the EWC is a requirement
* Clause on Welsh language: we encourage Welsh language skills; indicate preference for Welsh assessment/interview in your personal statement
* Right to Work in the UK will be checked if offered a role
