Community alarm officer

Role Overview

Community Alarm Officer in Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council’s Telecare Service, responsible for installing, supervising and maintaining Technology‑Enabled Care (TEC) equipment and responding to home alarms to enable vulnerable and elderly people to remain independent. The position operates 24/7 on a 22.2‑hour week over a rolling 23‑week rota, including evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays. Closing date: 14 June 2026.

Responsibilities

• Install, monitor and maintain TEC equipment.
• Complete assessments for vulnerable and elderly individuals.
• Assist non‑injured fallers through the falls response service.
• Answer alarm calls, housing repair calls, Emergency Duty Team calls and other out‑of‑hours contacts for the Council.
• Respond to alarm activations to promote independence, choice and control.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Full driving licence and a car that is insured for business use.
• Willingness to work the rota schedule (22.2 hours per week over 23 weeks), including evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
• Medical clearance and an enhanced DBS check.
• Strong communication skills and a motivated, people‑focused attitude.

Benefits and Compensation

Salary: £31,537 – £34,434 (subject to pro‑rata). Additional 15% shift enhancement and weekend allowances. On‑site full‑time work environment.
