Highly Specialist Psychological Therapist
Provide a highly‑specialist psychology service to adult mental health clients, both in‑patient and community. Serve as continuity link between ward and community, delivering specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy, offering advice and consultation to non‑psychologist colleagues and carers, within the team’s policies and procedures.
Work part‑time across Erith Centre and Woodlands Unit (18.75 hrs each) – a consolidated split post.
Main duties
* Contribute to the provision of psychology therapies service for the Bexley Psychosis Pathway and Acute Inpatient Wards.
* Provide specialist psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for clients referred to the ICMP Community Mental Health Service and Acute Inpatient Wards, collaborating with clients, families, and other professionals.
* Implement a range of psychological interventions, including NICE‑approved CBTp and Family Interventions for Psychosis.
* Deliver assessment, treatment and discharge within psychologically based care plans, providing advice and consultation to other professionals.
* Conduct risk assessment and management for individual clients, advising on safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
* Communicate complex information effectively to clients, families and multidisciplinary teams, maintaining progress monitoring.
* Support team functioning by offering psychological advice, supervision and consultation to other professionals.
Management & Leadership
* Assist with staff recruitment, workload management of assistant and trainee clinical psychologists, and contribute to service evaluation and audit.
* Provide leadership to junior psychological therapy staff, leading professional development and supervision.
* Accountable to the Psychology Lead/Mental Health Team Manager and to the Professional Lead.
Teaching, Training & Supervision
* Offer clinical placements and supervision for trainee clinical/counselling psychologists and CBT therapists.
* Provide training, advice and consultation to staff on psychologically based interventions.
Research & Evaluation
* Utilise evidence‑based literature and research to support practice and undertake appropriate research projects and service evaluations.
General Professional Standards
* Maintain registration with the HCPC or BABCP (or UKCP) and with the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapists as required.
* Participate in CPD and maintain highest professional standards.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and issues.
Working Pattern
Fixed‑term contract, 12 months, part‑time split post (⅓ full‑time equivalent), no unsocial hours.
Person Specification
* Registered with HCPC/BABCP/UKCP.
* Postgraduate certificate in CBT (for psychosis or SMI) or Family Interventions for Psychosis.
* Training in research methodology, staff training, and other applied psychology.
* Experience working in mental health, including inpatient services or crisis.
* Experience delivering CBT to clients with psychosis, running groups, working with families, teaching staff, providing supervision, and joint working with nurses/doctors/MDT.
Salary & Benefits
£63,665 to £70,887 per year (pro rata).
Contract & Duration
Fixed term, 12 months.
