SEN / SEMH Behaviour Support Mentor - Primary Inclusion Centre, Portsmouth (ASAP Start)
Location: Portsmouth Start Date: ASAP Pay: From £14 p/h Contract: Supply - Temp to Perm
A welcoming, child-centred Primary Inclusion Centre in Portsmouth is looking for a compassionate and resilient SEN / SEMH Behaviour Support Mentor to join their team as soon as possible. The centre supports primary-aged pupils who present with social, emotional and mental health needs, anxiety, and barriers to learning within mainstream settings.
This is a role where you become a consistent, trusted adult for children who need stability, patience, and understanding. Your presence helps them feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn.

What You'll Be Doing
* Supporting primary pupils with SEMH needs, anxiety and behavioural challenges
* Using trauma-informed, child-centred approaches
* Helping children regulate emotions and develop confidence
* Encouraging engagement in learning through patience and consistency
* Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the inclusion team
What We're Looking For
* A warm, empathetic and flexible approach
* Experience supporting children with SEN, SEMH or communication needs (advantageous)
* Strong relationship-building and behaviour-support skills
* A genuine commitment to helping children succeed-even on their toughest days
Requirements
* Right to work in the UK
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
* References covering the last 24 months
