Job purpose:

The purpose of the role will be to coach on the Gymnastics programme during term time and school holidays. A key part of this role will be to offer quality coaching and to communicate with staff and customers, liaising with the Assistant Manager/Gym Camp Supervisor and Centre manager to ensure all classes are running smoothly.

Duties and responsibilities

Delivery of Gymnastics Programme

· Consulting with other coaches and volunteers about the aims of the sessions and the purpose of each activity

· Coaching on the gym camps with assistance from other coaches

· Providing support and advice and assisting coaches and volunteers within the coaching team

· Sharing information regarding special needs of the participants involved i.e. levels of fitness, significant medical conditions, physical impairments or disabilities and discuss with relevant parties

· Providing information on where/when the participants can take part in squad trials and gymnastics classes/courses

Planning

· Assisting the Gymnastics Camp Supervisor where needed

· Delegate tasks which do not need your personal attention

· Assisting in creating a working rota for Gym Camp staff

· Contributing to planning improvements within the structure of the Gym camp programme

· Assisting with finding cover regarding annual leave, cover work, sick days for gymnastics coaches

Health and Safety compliances

· Complying with YMCA and British Gymnastics policies, including; child protection, fair play and equal opportunities.

· Taking responsibility for ensuring that equipment is correct and is kept in good working order. Reporting breaks and damages where necessary

· Following correct procedures for recording accidents and incidents

· Awareness of the Club's Health and Safety policy and emergency procedures. Ensuring there is an accessible, well stocked first aid kit at the venue and telephone nearby

Administration & General

· Assisting Assistant Manager to create registers signing in/out sheets & lesson plans

· Accessing computer systems to check members payments

· Supply additional support to management where necessary i.e. Non-gymnastics related items

· Maintaining an up to date knowledge of the programmes offered by the Harringay Club

· Maintaining an orderly-working environment, including equipment etc.

· Promoting members events and classes

· Attending work related training sessions as directed by the Harringay Club Manager

· Delivering the highest standard of customer service at all times

· Achieving performance targets

· Undertaking other tasks that may be required from time to time to ensure the efficient operation of the facility

· Ensuring security of the Harringay Club property and premises

· Maintaining the integrity of all personal data; protecting personal data from breaches and maintain the confidentiality of personal data

· Reporting any data breaches promptly to your line manager

General

· At all times ensure a compassionate, professional and efficient public image for the charity.

· Participate in 1-2-1, annual review, and learning and development and take personal responsibility for maintaining the knowledge and skills required for the role.

· Participate in our public facing and team building events.

· Take responsibility for ensuring your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts and omissions. Report any health and safety risks to your manager.

· Be familiar with and attentive to safeguarding requirements. Report any safeguarding concerns to the assigned Safeguarding Officer.

Dimensions

The working pattern is set between the postholder and line manager. Regular 1-2-1 meetings will take place with the line manager.

Scope and limits of authority

As Recreational Assistant you will be accountable for the quality of customer service delivered to people using or visiting the Centre or other community based sites.

You will also be responsible for ensuring deliver own tasks in a timely and professional manager to the required standards.

Computer literate with Plus II and/or Gladstone 360 software

Able to lead and manage a gym camp session

P

Able to work as part of a team

P

Able to solve problems, offer tangible solutions and make recommendations

Experience

Track record of similar comparable role

P

Experience of teaching GFA Squad Children in a comparable role

P

Experience of assisting and or teaching Pre School Children, Recreational Gymnastics and GFA Squad Children in a comparable role

P

Experience of the voluntary or not for profit sector

P
