Reporting to the Clinical Site Director, the Lead Bed Manager will be responsible for leading the Bed Management team to optimize capacity and patient flow across our hospital. The post holder will collaborate with the Head of CSPs, Lead Discharge Coordinator, and the wider operational and clinical teams to ensure patients are located in the right place at the right time with the right staff to receive the appropriate treatment and care. The role involves promoting an open and engaging culture for patients and staff that encourages clinical excellence, facilitates teamwork, and supports multi-professional care delivery. This will help GOSH treat as many children and young people as possible in a timely manner, aligning with our goal to go ‘above and beyond’.
Main duties of the job
1. Ensure safe patient placement and site-wide patient flow.
2. Oversee the safe placement of patients on elective and emergency pathways, working with clinical teams, and leading policy development and standard operating procedures.
3. Manage information and data related to patient flow.
4. Demonstrate leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
