Job Title: Associate Multimedia Editor or Senior Multimedia Editor (12 Month Fixed Term Role) – Nature Portfolio. Location: London – Hybrid Working Model. Application Deadline: Sunday 9 November 2025.
Nature Portfolio is a flagship portfolio of journals, products and services dedicated to serving the scientific community. Nature’s multimedia team creates podcasts and videos that contextualize the latest advances in science for working scientists and the general public. In this 12-month fixed term role, you will have responsibility for managing vertical social video and will support the multimedia and digital teams in producing audio and video content across multiple platforms.

Role Responsibilities
* Film and edit video, with a focus on vertical video – primarily TikTok, Facebook and Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
* Play an active role in commissioning discussions, brainstorming, and idea generation, focusing on content of interest and relevance to Nature’s audience
* Innovate different types of content to reach new audiences on social media
* Script writing and editing; story development
* Camera and sound operating
* Equipment management
* Stock image/footage/audio research
* Publishing management, including video upload and compression/formatting, metadata, obtaining correct permissions
* Help manage the Nature Video YouTube channel
* Audio production to support the team’s output where necessary
* Collaborate with animators and freelancers to produce content
Essential Qualifications
* Experience in science communication, video production or journalism with an understanding of creating video for social media (e.g., TikTok, Reels for Instagram and Facebook, X, YouTube)
* Demonstrable portfolio of communicating science to a non-specialist audience, including factual video production and social video; portfolio should include science writing, video editing, and ideally narration or presenting
* Extensive camera operation experience (shooting talking heads, action sequences, and B-roll; manual camera operation; uploading/importing footage to editing software)
* Mac literate
* Experience with video compression and format conversion
* Extensive experience editing video with Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Premiere Pro
* Audio editing experience with Adobe Audition or equivalent software
Desirable Qualifications
* Bachelor’s science degree
* Postgraduate science communication qualifications or journalism training
* Experience in news reporting or research
