About the role
Are you an experienced educator passionate about Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are looking for a Tutor – SEN Level 2 to teach and mentor adult learners. In this role, you will deliver Level 2 qualifications, such as ‘Understanding Autism’, empowering aspiring tutors with the skills needed for meaningful careers in SEN education.
Main Purpose of the Role
Your primary purpose is to guide adult learners through their qualifications, delivering impactful teaching and tailored support. As a Tutor – SEN Level 2, you will help aspiring tutors develop the critical skills and confidence to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) effectively.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality teaching sessions (online and in-person) on key SEN principles and strategies.
* Equip learners with the practical skills and knowledge to support individuals with diverse SEN.
* Adapt teaching materials to meet the needs of adult learners and ensure their progression.
* Conduct initial assessments to create personalised learning plans (ILPs).
* Monitor learner progress, providing timely feedback and robust support to guide their development.
* Maintain accurate, compliant, and up-to-date learner records, adhering to GDPR and funding requirements.
* Embed safeguarding, prevention, and health and safety procedures throughout the learning process.
* Contribute to curriculum improvements to ensure qualifications remain relevant to the SEN sector.
* Participate in continuing professional development (CPD) and team activities to maintain the highest professional standards.
Skills and Qualifications for SEN Tutor Trainer
Essential
* Proven experience in teaching and mentoring, with a focus on delivering qualifications successfully.
* A Level 3 or above teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, PTTLS, or DTLLS).
* Demonstrable expertise in SEN education and effective support strategies.
* Level 2 qualifications in English, Maths, and ICT.
* Strong ability to plan and deliver interactive and engaging training sessions.
* Excellent communication skills and a commitment to learner success.
* Thorough knowledge of safeguarding, equality, and diversity principles.
Desirable
* Experience delivering qualifications directly related to SEN (e.g., Understanding Autism).
* An Assessor qualification (e.g., A1).
* Familiarity with adult learner funding processes.
* Certifications in Safeguarding, GDPR, and Health & Safety.
