So, what will I be doing?
At Yeo Valley we’re all about people, purpose and proper good food. From yogurts to butter, ice cream to milk, we’re proud to make delicious products that end up on millions of tables every week. Now we’re looking for a Lead Operator to join our Crewkerne team and help keep things running smoothly on site.
This role is 4 on 4 off, day shift role, working between 6am and 6pm.
What you’ll be doing
As a Lead Operator, you’ll be the go-to person on shift for your area. You’ll coordinate resources, keep production moving, and make sure quality, safety and efficiency standards are spot on. That means:
1. Leading by example on health & safety and food safety, challenging unsafe practices and upholding high standards.
2. Coordinating your team to deliver against production plans and service levels.
3. Keeping a sharp eye on performance, downtime and materials, spotting opportunities to improve and making changes happen.
4. Training, mentoring and energising your team so everyone feels supported and capable of doing their best work.
5. Rolling your sleeves up when needed – whether that’s helping with changeovers, basic fault-finding, or driving continuous improvement across the shift.
Sounds interesting, what do I need?
6. Strong teamworking skills with the confidence to lead, coach and motivate others.
7. Previous experience in a production environment (ideally as a machine operator or similar).
8. Good attention to detail and the ability to balance quality with efficiency.
9. Effective communicator who can keep the team connected and focused.
10. A basic knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP would be a real advantage.
Why should I join the family?

Operating from four dairies and two logistics centres in Somerset and Devon, we employ over 1700 staff and produce more than 25% of the UK’s packaged yogurt.
