About the Role:
Grade Level (for internal use): 10
The Geospatial Solutions team sits within the Data Stewardship pillar of SPGI’s Enterprise Data Organisation and focuses on building scalable, reproducible geospatial solutions that support enterprise data initiatives. The team values standardization, collaboration, and knowledge sharing, working closely across EDO Geospatial and with partner verticals such as Partnerships and Operations to ensure alignment, data integrity, and shared innovation.
The team dynamic is collaborative, solution‑oriented, and driven by natural problem‑solving, bringing together geospatial expertise and engineering best practices to deliver consistent, high‑quality geospatial capabilities across SPGI.
Responsibilities and Impact:
* Steward and maintain authoritative spatial datasets, ensuring geodetic integrity, attribute consistency, and alignment with enterprise geospatial standards.
* Implement and oversee robust data quality, QA/QC, and validation processes to identify and remediate spatial, topology, and schema issues.
* Design, build, and optimise scalable geospatial ETL workflows using tools such as FME, Python, and cloud‑native technologies.
* Automate data ingestion, validation, and delivery pipelines to improve reliability, efficiency, and reduce manual processes.
* Collaborate closely with operations, product and technology teams to ensure accurate updates to spatial data and integration into enterprise platforms and client‑facing products.
* Contribute to geospatial modernisation initiatives across SPGI, including standardisation, cloud adoption, and preparing geospatial datasets for advanced analytics and AI‑driven use cases.
What We're Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* Strong experience in geospatial data management, governance, and spatial data quality assurance.
* Hands‑on experience building and maintaining geospatial ETL pipelines using tools such as FME, Python, and GIS platforms.
* Strong understanding of spatial data standards, coordinate reference systems (CRS), topology, and geodetic principles.
Basic Soft Skills
* Strong analytical thinking and natural problem‑solving ability.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
