Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Energy from Waste site in the UK to recruit a Mechanical Technician for its site in Milton Keynes.
The Mechanical Technician role comes with a starting salary of 50,000 + benefits package.

Responsibilities and duties of the Mechanical Technician role
Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Technician you will:
* Conduct planned and preventative maintenance across all plant technologies, including Mechanical Treatment, Anaerobic Digestion, and Advanced Thermal Treatment.
* Support the Lead Mechanical Engineer in ensuring efficient operation and upkeep of mechanical systems.
* Perform inspections, PPM checks, and maintenance reports accurately and promptly.
* Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
* Carry out maintenance on steam valves, turbines, hydraulic systems, and gas engines.
* Maintain high health, safety, and environmental standards across all plant areas.
* Deliver team briefings and toolbox talks to ensure knowledge sharing and safety awareness.
* Comply with all health, safety, and legislative requirements and company policies.
* Contribute to a proactive maintenance strategy using condition monitoring techniques.
* Work within a Permit to Work system and ensure accurate documentation such as Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and Risk Assessments.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
* Relevant mechanical qualification (e.g. NVQ, HNC, or equivalent).
* Proven experience in Energy from Waste, Petrochemical, or Power sectors.
* Proficiency in at least one specialist area: Coded Welding, Pressure Vessels, Steam Turbines, Gas Systems, or Steam Valve maintenance.
* Familiarity with or willingness to train on a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

* Team-oriented with good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proactive and self-motivated with a continuous improvement attitude.
