Overview
The Onyx Research Data Tech organization is a major investment by GSK R&D and Digital & Tech designed to accelerate drug discovery through data, knowledge, and prediction. The team focuses on product, portfolio, and platform leadership to provide next‑generation data experiences and AI/ML environments for scientists and decision‑makers.
Responsibilities
* Portfolio strategy & vision: define and champion the overall product strategy, vision, and roadmap for the Molecule Design portfolio, ensuring alignment with Onyx’s and GSK R&D's objectives.
* Team leadership & development: build, mentor, and lead a high‑performing team of Product Managers and Senior Product Managers, fostering innovation and continuous growth.
* AI/GenAI portfolio leadership & modernization:
o Direct the strategic direction for Generative AI, LLMs, and autonomous AI agents across the portfolio.
o Modernise legacy tools to be AI‑ready, ensuring business continuity.
o Lead development of foundational capabilities such as model‑ready molecule design data products and Model Context Protocol implementations.
o Set guidelines for data acquisition, model fine‑tuning, and responsible deployment of proprietary Generative AI models.
* Human‑AI interaction & user experience: champion user‑centric design for human‑AI collaboration, ensuring intuitive, powerful, and ethical experiences.
* Executive & cross‑functional influence: partner with executive‑level product, engineering, and scientific leaders to align on vision, secure resources, and drive adoption.
* Strategic portfolio growth & capability sourcing: evaluate and champion market opportunities and external partnerships, lead buy‑vs‑build decisions.
* Performance & governance: define portfolio‑level performance metrics, governance guidelines, and continuous improvement mechanisms, embedding responsible AI practices and data governance.
* Technical architecture guidance: provide strategic guidance on cloud‑native solutions, data pipelines, and multi‑agent system architectures required to scale the portfolio.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field (e.g., computational science, biomedical sciences, AI, data science, software engineering).
* Significant product management experience with a proven track record of product modernization initiatives.
* Proven ability to define and execute a product strategy for a portfolio of 0‑to‑1 products, especially within the life science domain.
* Deep expertise in Generative AI, LLMs, and autonomous AI agents and their application in complex scientific problem spaces.
* Technical fluency with cloud‑native architectures (AWS, GCP, Azure), API design, and infrastructure for scaling advanced AI/ML applications.
Preferred Qualifications
* Master’s or PhD in a technical or scientific discipline (e.g., computational science, biomedical sciences, AI, data science, software engineering).
* Exceptional leadership and communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
* Extensive experience designing, optimizing, and implementing Model Context Protocols (MCP) for LLM‑powered agents.
* Hands‑on software engineering or data science experience in GenAI prior to product leadership.
* Proven ability to build and scale products that manage complex, unstructured biomedical or scientific data.
* Deep knowledge of bioinformatics, computational biology, or cheminformatics with a vision for agentic AI in drug discovery.
* Experience in the life science or biopharma R&D sector and technologies adoption within regulated environments.
* Strategic partnership development or commercialization experience for deep technology products.
