Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Hybrid / Gloucester
Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum + Benefits
Employment Type: Permanent
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm (40 hours per week)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team and play a key role in delivering innovative, compliant, and manufacturable engineering solutions. You will be responsible for the electrical design of products from initial concept through to production, supporting both new product development and the continuous improvement of existing designs.
This role is ideal for a proactive engineer with strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of electrical compliance and safety standards, and experience working within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
Research and develop new product concepts, while enhancing existing designs based on customer, production, and market feedback.
Lead the electrical design of special purpose equipment, including control panel layouts, schematics, and cable schedules.
Specify and select electrical components to meet performance, safety, and compliance requirements.
Develop and integrate PLC-based control systems, including I/O definition, configuration, and functional documentation (PLC programming experience desirable but not essential).
Produce and maintain comprehensive electrical documentation, including wiring diagrams, design calculations, and bills of materials.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and verification and validation testing.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience in a product design or development role.
Experience working in R&D or New Product Development environments.
Desirable Experience
Control panel design for industrial or commercial applications.
Working knowledge of PLC-based control systems and Variable Speed Drives.
Personal Attributes
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information.
Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement.
Comfortable working autonomously while also open to feedback and guidance.
