1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD Support) – Secondary School – Sheffield

Salary: £110–£130 per day (dependent on experience)
PK Education are working with a secondary school in Sheffield who are looking to appoint a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) from September 2026.
This is a rewarding opportunity to join a supportive inclusion team within a mainstream secondary school, providing dedicated support to help a student access learning, develop confidence, and engage positively throughout the school day.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, the SENCO, and pastoral team to ensure the student receives consistent support across lessons and around the wider school environment.
The Role
Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
Supporting access to learning across a range of subjects
Assisting with organisation, engagement, and classroom participation
Encouraging independence and confidence
Working closely with teachers and the wider SEND team
Supporting the implementation of strategies outlined within the student's support plan
What We're Looking For
Experience working with children or young people with additional needs
Understanding of Autism and inclusive educational practice
Calm, patient, and resilient approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team
The school has a well-established SEND department and a strong commitment to inclusion. Staff are well supported, and the successful candidate will become part of a collaborative team focused on helping students achieve their full potential.
This role would suit Teaching Assistants, Support Workers, Youth Workers, Behaviour Mentors, or individuals with relevant SEN experience looking for a long-term role within a mainstream secondary school.
