Assistant Plant Operator
Salary - £27,190 - £40,785
Hours - 40 hours per week
Location - Gloucestershire Energy from Waste (EfW), GL10 3ET
As an Assistant Plant Operator at FCC Environment, you will support the safe and reliable operation of the facility. You will assist the Plant Operator and Shift Team Leader to ensure plant and processes are operating correctly and within set parameters, while maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.
This vacancy is for a full-time position, working a 12-hour shift pattern, including nightshifts.

What will you be doing?
- Supporting the safe and compliant operation of the site in line with FCC Environment policies and procedures
- Understanding and complying with all health, safety and environmental policies and legislation
- Undertaking regular plant walk-downs and inspections to ensure safe, efficient and continuous plant operations
- Recording and reporting defects, safety concerns, incidents and near misses
- Assisting with testing and routine operation of plant systems
- Operating overhead gantry cranes and mobile plant (subject to training and competence)
- Assisting with the receipt and dispatch of facility inputs and outputs
- Maintaining a clean, safe and orderly plant environment
- Collecting and reporting operational data as instructed by the Shift Team Leader
- Providing shift cover during sickness, holidays or training when required
What are we looking for?
- Experience of working within a continuous process industry, ideally power generation, energy recovery or a similar demanding environment
- Awareness of environmental permits, health & safety requirements and safe systems of work
- Practical skills such as basic mechanical fitting or mobile plant operation (desirable)
- Good communication skills with a logical approach to problem-solving
- A flexible, enthusiastic and reliable approach to work
- Strong teamwork skills with high levels of motivation and self-drive
- Basic computer literacy
