Overview
The College is currently increasing and strengthening its Computing Department to accommodate changing and increasing needs of its users. We are therefore looking for a Systems Administrator to join the team.
The department structure consists of a Head of Department providing overall line management and project planning/strategy, two System Engineers providing 3rd line technical services/support, two System Administrators offering 2nd line technical services/support (one vacancy), two Help-Desk Support Apprentices providing 1st line technical services/support and one Help-Desk Support Supervisor providing supervisory oversight to the apprentices alongside 1st line technical services/support.
Responsibilities
The post holder will provide second-line management, maintenance and support of the virtual and physical infrastructure services and applications within the College. They will provide support in incident and problem management, diagnosing, resolving and recovering from loss of service to maintain department service uptime targets. The post holder will also provide technical expertise and input to the setting of policies regarding IT provision and its use. The role sometimes involves dealing with highly sensitive and/or confidential data in the execution of these duties, so being able to approach these with professionalism and maintain absolute confidentiality is key.
Requirements / Qualifications
Excellent people skills, the ability to communicate well with a wide range of individuals, good organisational skills and an eye for detail are also required to succeed in this role.
