Being part of Nottingham College means playing a vital part in helping thousands of people reach their potential. Here, you’ll have the freedom to work in a way that suits you, the support to thrive and the opportunity to shape your career.
Who we need
We are seeking a highly skilled and industry-experienced Mechanical Engineering Skills Trainer to join our Engineering & Electrical Apprenticeship team at the Ruddington Campus, delivering high-quality theoretical and practical training across CNC, CAD, Hydraulics & Pneumatics, PLCs, instrumentation and control, to Level 3 including mechanical principles, maintenance, engineering materials and hand‑skills.
The role supports delivery of Level 3 Engineering programmes, Level 4 HTQ Engineering Apprenticeships, and future Level 4 Lead Engineer content.
The successful candidate will create engaging lessons, assess learning, provide developmental feedback, develop Schemes of Work and resources, and ensure apprentices meet awarding‑body requirements, contributing fully to IQA processes, audits, standardisation and EQA compliance.
They will work closely with employers to align training to industry needs, support apprentices through reviews and progression planning, and maintain up-to-date technical knowledge.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for an enthusiastic and industry-experienced individual with a minimum Level 3 qualification in Engineering and strong mechanical knowledge to Level 3, gained through hands‑on experience in areas such as maintenance, diagnostics, automation or related fields. You’ll bring a solid understanding of engineering principles, including maths, science, systems and materials, with the confidence to deliver both theory and practical learning in a clear and engaging way.
While a teaching or assessing qualification is desirable, we’re committed to supporting your development if you’re new to teaching. With excellent communication and organisational skills, you’ll be passionate about sharing your expertise and inspiring the next generation of skilled engineers to succeed.
