Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) is seeking a highly motivated Senior Psychologist to join our Secondary Care Mental Health Treatment Requirement (SC -MHTR) Team in Staffordshire.
You will:
* Supervise and support the assessment, formulation and treatment interventions provided by professional colleagues.
* Work autonomously.
* Implement policies and propose service developments with the Clinical Lead.
* Contribute to teaching and research.

In Summary
To complete SC-MHTR assessment reports, decide whether a recommendation for SC-MHTR is appropriate (in consultation with Clinical Lead for Secondary Care MHTR pilot if needed), agree a decision to treat or decline and give reasons in writing.
To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual. Deliver psychological interventions, if appropriate.
To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a service users mental health problems based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the service users problems and employing methods of proven efficacy in community settings.
To make high level, specialist clinical decisions and clinical judgements about service users care.
To initiate project management, including complex audit and service evaluation, with colleagues within and across the service to help develop and improve services to service users and their families.
Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential
* Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology (or its equivalent), as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
* Post graduate level training in Forensic or Counselling Psychology (Doctoral level) as accredited by the BPS.
* Eligible for chartered status with the British Psychological Society. Eligible for full membership of the Division of Clinical Psychology (DCP) and/or Division of Forensic Psychology (DFP)/Division of Counselling Psychology (DCC)
Desirable
* Additional post graduate level training in one or more therapeutic treatment approaches e.g., cognitive therapy, systemic/family therapy, EMDR
Experience
Essential
* Experience of working as a qualified psychologist with people with severe and enduring mental health problems including assessment and clinical interventions for a wide range of presenting problems
* Experience of working with community mental health services and delivery of psychological interventions in a community setting
* Experience of working with people who present with complex, trauma related psychological difficulties.
Desirable
* justice system with up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation
* Experience of planning and/or implementing service developments in accordance with local and national policy objectives
* Experience of teaching, training and providing professional/clinical supervision to others (including qualified psychologists and other professionals)
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Essential
* Up to date knowledge of: othe psychological needs of people with severe and enduring mental health problems owider clinical issues as evidenced by CPD log
* Skilled in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management and their application within community and/or inpatient contexts
* High level skills in the assessment and management of risk
Desirable
* Up to date knowledge of the psychological needs of people with complex trauma related presentations
* Demonstrated skills in providing liaison, consultation, and clinical supervision to professional and non-professional groups in health/non-health settings.
