We are looking for a Production Manager to join our client - a leading commercial vehicle company - based in Bicester. You will be responsible for leading on-site production teams, ensuring operational targets are achieved while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.
The successful candidate will play a key role in improving efficiency, developing teams and ensuring production targets are delivered safely, on time and to the highest quality standards.
The Role
1. Lead and manage on-site production teams to deliver operational targets.
2. Oversee production activities from initial build through to finished vehicle shipment.
3. Monitor and deliver key manufacturing KPIs including safety, quality, velocity and cost.
4. Work closely with Production Supervisors to maintain accurate reporting and visual performance management systems.
5. Coordinate with materials and supply teams to ensure production schedules are maintained.
6. Identify and manage potential issues within the build process to minimise disruption.
7. Support the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing methodologies.
8. Work with engineering and maintenance teams to optimise manufacturing operations and facility performance.
9. Ensure compliance with company policies relating to quality, health & safety and environmental standards.
10. Reporting to Head of Manufacturing Operations / Manufacturing Manager.
People Management
11. Lead and develop production supervisors and operational teams.
12. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and identify training and development needs.
13. Conduct annual appraisals and set performance objectives.
14. Promote strong communication and engagement across the workforce.
What We’re Looking For
15. Previous experience in a Production Manager or Manufacturing Manager role.
16. Strong leadership experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
17. Experience managing operational KPIs and driving performance improvements.
18. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
19. Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
20. Experience within automotive, commercial vehicle, heavy engineering or manufacturing sectors would be advantageous.
