The Intensive Life Skills (ILS) Pathway is a multi-disciplinary Mental Health Team providing assessment and intervention for adults 17+ experiencing complex emotional difficulties as part of the Adult Mental Health Service.
You will support the service as a highly skilled HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist working with a highly psychologically minded, enthusiastic, dedicated and supportive team to support service-users who present with high levels of emotional distress and often have histories of complex trauma, neurodiversity and/or adverse experiences.
The pathway uses therapeutic models including Structured Clinical Management (SCM), attachment theory, behavioural theory, Compassion-Focussed Therapy, EMDR, Trauma-Focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mentalisation-Based Treatment. The successful candidate will be offered to attend the (DBT) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Essential skills training, to use the knowledge and skills learnt in combining individual and workshop-based interventions.
You will need to travel independently over a large geographical area and will require suitable transport. As a Mental Health Community Occupational Therapist, you will be expected to undertake holistic comprehensive assessments and formulation of complex clinical presentations, including risk assessments and risk management.
The role will involve:
* Delivering group based and individual interventions in line with the pathway model and utilising Structured Clinical Management (SCM). There will be a requirement to undertake the role of named worker for a caseload of service users.
* Some individual and group-based interventions are being delivered remotely, and the successful candidate will therefore have strong ICT skills and be able to communicate effectively with others through technology.
* Participate in both delivering and receiving a range of clinical supervision and professional and clinical development within the pathway.
* Provide consultation, support and clinical supervision to other health professionals working within the Integrated Community Mental Health Services and Older Adults service and other areas of the Trust where identified as appropriate.
