Job summary
Beechwood Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for a medical secretary to join their team on a part-time basis, for 20-30 hrs hours per week over 3 days.
This is an essential front-line role at the practice, providing an efficient, comprehensive secretarial and administrative support service to the practice management team.

Main duties of the job
1. Providing a full secretarial service for all GPs and health professionals, as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, in an accurate and quality manner.
2. Handling patient and practice queries, regarding hospital appointments and treatments, confidentially.
3. Ensuring that any requests for information from medical records are appropriately dealt with, according to practice policy, and that all subsequent charges are invoiced appropriately.
4. Maintaining the computer-based clinic system, in an accurate and secure manner.
5. Assisting with the gathering of statistics and information, when required.
6. Performing any reasonable administrative tasks, as requested by the practice manager.

10. Administrative experience and good organisation skills.
11. Sound knowledge of medical terminology.
12. Proficiency in the MS Office package, as well as excellent general IT skills and experience of working with a clinical system.
13. Experience in read-coding and work-flowing clinical documentation.
14. Ability to 'think on your feet';
15. Excellent communication skills and a friendly approach.
16. Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality, and data security at all times.
17. Ability to multi-task and to work accurately under pressure.
18. Ability to work as part of a team, as well as being comfortable working independently.
