Job Overview The prime responsibilities of the CNC machine operative is to produce components in accordance with the requirements of the production plan, whilst ensuring that all production associated documents are appropriately completed and retained with the respective jobs, in accordance with the company management system. The CNC Operator will ensure production jobs are transacted in the MRP system, and queued at the next machine in the process flow. The role is based at our site in Gateshead and reports into the Manufacturing Team Leader. Key Responsibilities In this role the CNC Operator will be responsible for the following: To produce components in accordance with the requirements of the production plan. Ensure that all production associated documents are appropriately completed and retained with the respective jobs, in accordance with the company management system. Using the PC terminals at each machine, ensure production jobs are transacted in MRP system, and queued at the next machine in the process flow, or at stores if completed. Report any problems to the CNC programmer or machining manager for rectification. Have first off components verified by QA department. Perform periodic inspections, thereafter, have these ‘buddy checked’ by another team member. Minimize waste, i.e. minimize manufactured part defect levels. Support the departmental objectives Participate fully in continuous improvement (LEAD) activities where necessary and when required Ensure all HSSEQ rules and regulations are communicated and enforced throughout the Organization Proactively participate to safety awareness and improvement Follow the published processes and comply with all company policies and procedures. Be an ambassador for the businesses in particular ensure that Health & Safety comes first at all times The Requirements We’re looking for candidates with the following experience and skills: Experience in producing high quality, close tolerance machined components Experience in a reactive production / engineering environment i.e. having a consistent focus on priorities and associated deadlines Able to use precision measuring instruments, gauging devices and perform various quality inspection type procedures to include dimensional verification. Be an effective communicator Computer literate Conversant with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles Shift work. Organised with good attention to detail Professionalism, integrity and a strong work ethic Flexible approach to working. Experience in operating CNC lathes and Mills, preferably Fanuc control. Experience in reading engineering drawings. Experience in producing high quality, close tolerance machined components A recognised qualification is required to demonstrate proficiency in key skills: English Literature, English Language, Maths and ICT.
