Project Management Office Team Lead

Overview of the role:
Smart CT is seeking a highly organized and strategic PMO Team Lead to oversee the planning, execution and delivery of Engineering projects and drive continuous improvement in project delivery practices. This role is responsible for leading a team of project managers and coordinators, ensuring the successful delivery of projects, and implementing best practices in project governance, reporting, budgeting, scheduling and resource management.
The role is office based located at our headquarters in Twyford, Berkshire and will report to the Director of Service Delivery.
Main Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the PMO team, providing guidance, mentorship and performance management
* Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of a small selection of strategic projects and customers ensuring consistency and alignment with timelines and budgets
* Facilitate efficient resource planning and allocation across projects to drive optimal utilisation of resources
* Support change management and communication strategies for project rollouts
* Develop and maintain project management standards, methodologies and tools
* Conduct regular project reviews and post-implementation evaluations
* Monitor project performance and provide regular reporting to Senior Leadership Team
* Identify and mitigate project risks and issues
* Collaborate with cross functional departments to ensure alignment and stakeholder engagement
* Maintain centralised documentation and reporting for audit and compliance
* Conduct post-project evaluations to assess project outcomes, identify lessons learned and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the PMO
Skills and Experience:
* Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2) - preferred but not essential
* Experience in IT Engineering projects, such as networking, CCTV and retail intelligence
* Strategic thinker with a passion for operational excellence
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
* Experience in change management and organisational transformation
* Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
* Knowledge of ServiceNow – preferred but not essential
* Customer focused, with good communication skills
* Self-motivated, with a can-do attitude who is keen to solve problems and improve processes
* Results oriented, with a focus on driving revenue growth and achieving targets.
