We are excited to announce the Vacant position within the Trauma and Orthopaedics ward D3 in Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. This facility is a testament to our Trust’s ongoing commitment to enhancing healthcare services in the region and working collaboratively with orthopaedic services across Hampshire and Isle of Wight to serve patients across our communities.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Nurse with extensive experience and knowledge in Orthopaedic nursing and proven leadership skills.

The delivery of high quality, effective and compassionate care is essential to our organisation.

Main duties of the job

1. Leadership – the successful candidate must be a leader who will promote excellence within the inpatient ward and ambulatory unit and who is willing to go the extra mile to achieve this.
2. Dedication – the successful applicant will be someone who is dedicated to the role and who is willing to promote evidence based care.
3. Enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure and to go an extra mile when required.
4. Aspiration – the successful candidate must be willing to improve their own clinical practice, knowledge, and skills.
5. High standards of Professional Practice to ensure quality and safety of patient care, experience, and the patient journey.
6. Specialist clinical practice, knowledge, skills and experience.
7. Productivity and financial management of a clinical area with a delegated budget.
8. Ensuring clinical services are delivered to a high quality of care and that all compliance requirements such as CQC and contractual requirements are achieved.
9. Lead the clinical team to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients and staff in accordance with Health and Safety and Infection Control Policies and best practice.
10. To work collaboratively with other HHFT ward.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria

11. Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in Management and Leadership, or equivalent e.g. NVQ Level 3
12. Degree level education or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study, or employment experience
13. Professional UK registration e.g. NMC, HCPC

Desirable criteria

14. A Masters’ degree or evidence of working towards a Masters’ degree in the relevant field
15. Project management learning and/or development
16. Communication skills learning and/or development

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria

17. Evidence of significant post registration clinical work experience
18. Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD) clearly recorded for professional profile

Desirable criteria

19. Understanding of Health Environment policies and legislation including Clinical, Human Resources, Equality & Diversity, Governance

Skills & Ability

Essential criteria

20. Advanced communication skills including to communicate complex, sensitive or confidential information in an appropriate manner; to liaise and negotiate effectively; to understand and disseminate multifaceted information.
21. Clinical Skills appropriate to the relevant speciality

Desirable criteria

22. Highly specialised clinical skills relevant to the speciality e.g. trained in non-invasive ventilation.
