Salary: Hospice Clinical Band 7 £44,835 to £51,307 (pro rata for part-time)

About the Role
Join Birmingham Hospice as a Clinical Specialist Triage & Facilitator Nurse within the 24/7 SPUR service. The role operates between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM, providing urgent palliative care responses across Birmingham and Solihull. You will be the first point of contact for all incoming calls, work autonomously and with other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and treat patients in their place of residence, ensuring timely and appropriate clinical responses.
Responsibilities
* Act as an autonomous practitioner, liaising with hospice, community, primary care and acute teams to meet patient needs
* Assess, diagnose and treat conditions of patients in their own homes; initiate referrals as appropriate
* Independently prescribe appropriate medication (V300) or refer as needed
* Provide clinical leadership and education to staff; coordinate staffing resources and support service priorities
* Coordinate care, maintain accurate records in line with legislation, and support clinical emergencies
* Support and engage with safeguarding, information governance, and professional development
What We Are Looking For
* Registered Nurse (Adult) qualification (e.g., RGN); NMC Registration
* Independent prescribing qualification (V300) or equivalent specialist training
* European Certificate in Essential Palliative Care (or working towards)
* Advanced communication skills; high professional autonomy and sound clinical judgement

Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Highly developed specialist palliative knowledge and end-of-life care experience
* Experience in triage and independent practice for planning and evaluating patient care
* Knowledge of NHS policies, patient involvement/advocacy, service development, and change management
* Experience in mentoring, leadership, and managing teams
* Budgetary management experience and data input/ audit capabilities
