Job Summary
James Place is a charity that saves the lives of men in suicidal crisis by delivering free clinical services. We are opening a new centre in Birmingham (Edgbaston, B15 3AA) early 2026, and are recruiting a Senior Suicide Prevention Therapist to lead and support the clinical team.
Responsibilities
* Manage and support the clinical team in delivering our unique evidence‑based intervention.
* Co‑produce effective safety plans with patients and their supporters.
* Provide direct therapeutic sessions to men experiencing acute suicidal crisis.
* Lead and model best practice in clinical supervision, reflective practice and case management.
* Maintain professional standards, record keeping and safeguarding procedures.
* Assist with rapid transfer to appropriate services when safety needs cannot be met locally.
* Cover delegated Head of Centre duties as required (e.g., leave, absence).
Qualifications
* Relevant core profession: Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Counsellor or Practitioner Psychologist registered with NMC, HCPC, Social Work England or equivalent.
* Accredited as a psychological therapist, psychotherapist or counsellor registered with BACP, UKCP, BABCP or equivalent.
* UK professional registration current and valid.
Experience & Skills
* Experience leading, supervising and developing a multidisciplinary clinical team.
* Expertise in suicide prevention, risk assessment and safety planning.
* Strong communication, interpersonal and conflict‑management skills.
* Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate therapeutic interventions and to maintain accurate client records.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence‑based practice.
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and the factors contributing to male suicide.
* Capacity to work within a time‑limited intervention framework while ensuring personal and client safety.

Pay: £38,000 per year pro rata
