Fromefield Manor School is a new SEN school (opened September 2024) located in central Frome, Somerset. It is a special school for up to 30 pupils, aged 11-19 who have a diagnosis of autism with associated complex needs.
We are recruiting for an experienced Special Educational Needs Co‑ordinator (SENCo) to join us. Fromefield Manor operates through a Total communication approach and so experience of working with pupils with ASD and some knowledge of the use of TEACCH and PECS systems would be desirable.
Main Duties
* Undertake the role of Special Needs Co‑ordinator (SENCo) for all statutory purposes, including Annual Reviews.
* Monitor the quality of SEN support by establishing effective systems to identify and meet the needs of students, whilst ensuring that the systems are coordinated, implemented, evaluated, and regularly reviewed.
* Ensure effective systems of communication, including feedback about students’ learning to inform future planning.
* Be accountable for the timetabling of appropriate support and intervention for students with SEN, considering resources and the needs of individuals and updating timetables and provision maps as appropriate throughout the academic year.
* Analyse and track student progress using appropriate assessments, data, and records.
* Ensure that regular meetings are held to evaluate progress of all students with special needs.
* Provide direction, training and support for staff working with students with SEN including ASD and ADHD.
* Act as the Designated Teacher for CLA, attending PEPs and CLA reviews throughout the year and recording relevant data in preparation for these meetings.
