Job summary
South West London Pathology (SWLP) is a partnership between four hospital trusts, providing integrated pathology services across South West London. We are seeking a full-time HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Clinical Blood Sciences laboratory at Epsom and St Helier hospitals. The role involves working in a busy UKAS accredited department, supporting routine and specialised blood sciences testing.
Main duties include working on Immucor BT analysers, Sysmex CN and XN analysers, and other specialist analysers such as Waters TQD, Sebia Capillary electrophoresis, and Agilent HPLC. The post is for 37.5 hours per week, primarily based at St Helier Hospital, with rotation across other sites within SWLP. The shift pattern includes nights, weekends, bank holidays, lates, and early shifts.
We are recruiting Band 5 Biomedical Scientists to support routine Biochemistry, Haematology, Haemostasis screening, and Blood Transfusion services. There are opportunities for multidisciplinary training and to work in specialised areas such as manual chemistry and haemoglobinopathies on a rotational basis. Job responsibilities
SWLP is expanding and recruiting four motivated HCPC registered Band 5 Biomedical Scientists to join our Blood Sciences team. The role involves developing skills across Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Clinical Chemistry, and morphology, with opportunities to work with advanced automation and manual techniques. Candidates will rotate through all laboratory sections and should have relevant experience and a desire to learn. We support professional growth and CPD activities.
The successful candidate must be committed to maintaining high-quality pathology services, work within professional boundaries, and demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication skills. Qualifications & Training
* Honours degree or equivalent in biological sciences
* HCPC registration
Knowledge & Experience
* Proven post-registration experience in relevant discipline
* Good knowledge of the relevant laboratory techniques
* CPD evidence and understanding of safety and quality systems

* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
* Competence with PC software and pathology systems
