Payroll Manager (3-4 Month FTC)
Payroll Manager | 3-4 Month FTC | £60,000 FTE | Retail Business | London based (3 days per week in the office)
A well‑known retail business is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join on a 3‑4‑month fixed‑term contract to support payroll continuity ahead of a transition to an outsourced managed service. The role offers hybrid working and a handover period with the outgoing post‑holder.
This is a hands‑on role requiring Frontier Chris21 experience and a strong understanding of payroll operations in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage payroll for 500 UK‑based employees using Frontier Chris21.
* Process new starter checklists and P45s for leavers.
* Upload monthly commission, hours, and staff purchases.
* Calculate weekly supervisor takings and quarterly manager commissions.
* Run and reconcile payroll reports, correct errors, and transmit RTI files to HMRC.
* Finalise payrolls, process BACS payments, and distribute payslips and P60s.
* Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and keep the team updated.
* Maintain and update payroll manuals and ensure confidentiality.
* Lead and develop the payroll team in line with company policies.
* Support the transition project to outsourced payroll services.
Experience Required
* Strong Excel skills for manual time and attendance tracking.
* Retail sector experience preferred.
