Job Summary

Aughton Surgery are looking to recruit 2x Salaried GP's (4 sessions each). We are flexible in terms of which days these sessions are worked. However, please note, that 2 of the 4 sessions will need to be worked on 1 full day, and you will be required to be duty GP for this full day per week.

We ensure that our Duty GP's have sufficient time to complete all tasks related to being on-call, and we are happy to discuss how we manage that with you. When on-call, you will be required to stay in the practice until closing time at 6:30pm.

We offer 6 weeks (pro‑rata) of annual leave, and 1 week (pro‑rata) of study leave for our GPs, and we pride ourselves on being a flexible and considerate practice. We are happy to discuss salary expectations individually with applicants.

A Salaried GP works as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care while complying with the contract.

Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

The role is to support, mentor, and supervise other healthcare professionals within the organisation and be an integral part of the general practice team.


Main duties of the job

* The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
* The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract
* To clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly referring patients to other services/agencies in a timely manner, utilising Practice and any other local guidelines
* Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
* Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care
* Effective management of long‑term conditions
* To support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self‑care
* Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
* Review medications following the appropriate policies, NICE/local clinical guidelines and local care pathways
* Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
* Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
* Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process


About Us

Aughton Surgery has 4 partners (3 GP's and 1 Practice Manager), 3 Salaried GP's, 1 Practice Nurse, 1 HCA and 1 Clinical Pharmacist. We are also a training practice, so we regularly have GP registrars, medical students and student physician associates as part of our team as well.

Our clinical staff are assisted by a friendly and knowledgeable admin/reception team.

All staff are highly supportive, and the surgery is a very enjoyable environment to work in.


Qualifications

* Qualified GP
* MRCGP
* CCT


Eligibility

* Full GMC Registration
* Performers List Registration
* Evidence of current validation
* Evidence of last appraisalEligibility to practice in the UK


Experience

* Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced GP
* Understanding of the importance of evidence-based practice
* Good MS Office and clinical system IT knowledge
* Understanding of the spectrum of clinical governance processes
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral) including recording of accurate clinical notes
* Knowledge of health promotion strategies
* Ability to work within own scope of practice and understand when to refer to GP colleagues
* Experience of triage and the ability to effectively assess and diagnose
* Ability to listen whilst being honest and caring and be both sensitive and empathetic in distressing situations
* Understanding of the local pathology tests processes and the ability to processing the results with advising patients accordingly
* Ability to assess and manage acute deteriorations /exacerbations of long-term conditions
* Understanding of safeguarding adults and children
* Understanding of the importance of evidence-based practice
* Experience of medicines management
* Knowledge of public health issues in the local area
* Understanding and knowledge of QOF and enhanced service
