Our client, a respected accountancy practice based in Sherborne, is seeking a Senior Finance Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of entities, including those in the financial consultancy and property sectors, supporting their accounting andpliance needs.About the RoleAs a Senior Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for:
1. Managing day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting through to management accounts and financial statements
2. Supporting audits and ensuring accurate financial records across multiple entities
3. Preparing VAT returns and maintaining fixed asset registers and control accounts
4. Administering payment runs and performing bank reconciliations
5. Producing management accounts and statutory accounts for internal and external review
6. Generating financial reports including budget vs actual summaries and profit forecasts
7. Providing cover for colleagues during holidays or absences
8. Reporting to the Team Leader or Deputy Head of Office
What We’re Looking ForWe’re seeking a candidate who:
9. Is AAT Level 4 qualified with at least five years of relevant experience, ideally within an accountancy practice
10. Has strong knowledge of VAT and experience handling VAT-related transactions
11. Demonstrates excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage high volumes of information
12. Is discreet, trustworthy, and capable of handling confidential matters
13. Possesses strongmunication and administrative skills
14. Is IT proficient, particularly with Microsoft Office and accounting software
15. Is proactive, adaptable, and a collaborative team player
