Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire
Security Clearance Level: High – Developed Vetting (DV).
Key Responsibilities
* Design, implement and support Windows Server environments (Server 2016‑2025), including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, SCCM and GPOs from design to implementation and support.
* Administer Linux system environments (Ubuntu / CentOS) and virtualised infrastructure (VMware, Hyper‑V).
* Provide support for Windows 10 & 11, including OS build and customisation.
* Work with virtualised desktop environments such as Omnissa and Citrix; manage Omnissa where applicable.
* Administer backup solutions such as Veeam.
* Apply networking knowledge (TCP/IP, load balancing, firewalls, CISCO). Configure and maintain Microsoft stack technologies (SharePoint, Skype for Business, SQL, System Centre, Office 2024, SCCM & SCOM, Power BI, Exchange, PowerShell).
* Maintain SAS and NAS/SAN storage technologies (iSCSI, SMB/CIFS).
* Support security‑cleared environments and Defence sector infrastructure.
* Analyse and resolve complex incidents, documenting solutions for customer satisfaction.
* Communicate technical issues to non‑technical staff and managers.
* Provide mentoring and support to Service Desk Analysts and Second‑Line Engineers.
* Produce and update technical documentation to a high standard.
* Maintain a proactive working attitude and drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Required Knowledge & Skills
* Strong expertise in Microsoft Server, Windows 10/11 and Active Directory.
* Experience with ITIL Service Management and service desk support.
* Knowledge of commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) software installation and configuration.
* Experience with enterprise anti‑virus, WSUS and network setup.
* Defence experience and ITIL Foundation qualification.
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Strong communication skills in written and oral form.
Highly Desirable
* Oracle database knowledge.
* Experience with Dell or NetApp storage solutions.
* Knowledge of the full suite of Broadcom VMware products.
Clearance Requirements
* Clearance to start DV.
* Clearance level: DV (role‑specific).

Pay Range
£47,500.00 – £60,900.00
