Department: Daimler Location: Wentworth Way, Tankersley, Barnsley S75 3DH Remuneration Package: Competitive Salary 37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday) 25 Days Annual Leave Bank Holidays Additional Birthday day off Help@hand A Range of Health & Wellbeing Resources Life Assurance Pension Purpose of the Role: The HGV Technical Trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality technical training programs for Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) technicians and other relevant colleagues within the Mercedes-Benz Trucks and FUSO Trucks network. The role ensures that learners acquire the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies to maintain, diagnose, and repair HGVs in line with industry standards and manufacturer guidelines. The trainer will also foster a collaborative learning environment and promote teamwork among learners. Key Responsibilities: • Training Delivery: Conduct classroom and practical training sessions on HGV systems, diagnostics, and repair techniques. Deliver curses on mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, and safety features. • Curriculum Development: Design and update training materials, manuals, and e-learning content to reflect current technologies and compliance standards. Ensure training programs meet regulatory requirements and manufacturer specifications. • Assessment & Evaluation: Assess learner performance through practical tests, written exams, and competency evaluations. Provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate training records. • Technical Expertise: Stay up to date with emerging HGV technologies, diagnostic tools, and industry best practices. Act as a subject matter expert for technical queries from learners and colleagues. • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all training activities comply with health and safety regulations. Promote safe working practices during practical sessions. • Teamwork & Collaboration: Foster a collaborative learning environment that encourages teamwork and knowledge sharing among learners. Work closely with other trainers and departments to align training programs with business objectives. Mentor and support new trainers to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality training. Act as an ambassador for the brand, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Qualifications & Experience: • Essential: Recognised qualification in HGV maintenance and repair (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent). Proven experience as an HGV technician or in a similar technical role. Strong understanding of HGV systems, diagnostics, and repair processes. Effective communication skills. Slid technical knowledge of trucks and the industry. Basic Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills. Proven ability to be both flexible and adaptable.
