Job Introduction
We are seeking a dynamic, proven, and experienced Clinical Negligence Claims Manager to join our Claims Handling team in the Member, Cases and Claims division.
As our new Clinical Negligence Claims Manager, you will proactively manage an active clinical negligence claims portfolio, maximizing strategic thinking while handling files efficiently to achieve positive member and business outcomes.
Whether you're a qualified solicitor eager for in-house opportunities or an experienced Claims Handler seeking a change, this role offers diverse responsibilities in managing both medical and dental claims. You will engage with various claims, provide insights to members, and collaborate with panel firms. This is an opportunity to grow your career and make a meaningful impact.
Working within a multi-disciplinary team, your success depends on building trusting relationships with colleagues, internal stakeholders, and external panel firms, ensuring service delivery and claims performance meet expectations. Effective collaboration and prioritization are essential.
Supported by a technical development framework, you will develop your claims portfolio across different complexities, values, disciplines, and jurisdictions. You will also coach and support colleagues.

The Claims Team manages claims from inception to resolution, including instructing external solicitor firms and providing clinical input through Medicolegal and Dentolegal Consultants.
Main Responsibilities
As our Claims Manager, you will:
* Manage a caseload of claims end-to-end, appropriate to your experience
* Assess facts, law, apportionment, quantum, and costs to devise strategies
* Create and maintain accurate claims estimates
* Resolve apportionment issues effectively
* Gather documentation and evidence from members and witnesses
* Commission expert reports and counsel input
* Draft and serve responses and relevant documentation
* Engage in settlement negotiations and use ADR/mediation when appropriate
* Ensure smooth transition to in-house solicitors if needed
* Collaborate with external solicitors for strategic direction
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for:
* An individual with proven understanding of Clinical Negligence law/claims and strategic claims management skills
* Experience in claims management or litigation within clinical negligence, personal injury, or professional negligence
* Experience handling high volumes of claims independently, with strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and empathy
* Ability to manage a caseload of both dental and medical claims of varying complexity
* A desire to develop knowledge across multiple jurisdictions
